Thanks Rowan. I am doing OK, that's the thing; I'm generally not sad or pained in any way, just a bit nothingy and without much of a care. Sometimes I fantasise that some tragedy happens in my life, just to feel something intense. A lot of it comes from being in a job that doesn't motivate me and seeing no rational way out. I think maybe routine is the enemy more than anything else. Not having enough variety in life to make a mark on it, and everything becomes a bit of a blur.
But yeah you're right it isn't smart to pin all my expectations on it. Just looking for other things to distract me and hold my interest really. But there just aren't enough hours in the day to explore new hobbies and things.
Anyway, I'll leave all that where it is right now and stop self-indulging. Does anyone else feel like Shame deserves to be on this album? I think it's perfect for it and an awesome song but can't quite decide where it would go if it was on here. Maybe replace Nothingwrong but then I guess you need that energy in the second half to separate the slower stuff up a bit.

ehh, nothingwrong feels kinda out of place imo. it's just lacking in every aspect

The bridge of nothingwrong is fantastic, but the rest is solid if not just very very forced.

So I've been a casual listener of the band for years but something about this band (and this record in particular) seemed to click this week! Perfect timing too considering the new album is around the corner.

I'm thinking about reviewing every Jimmy Eat World album in the lead-up to the new album's release. The debut needs a review at the very least.

dawg I'll read the fucking shit out of that, you should do the EPs like s/t and Stay On My Side Tonight as well
and the Singles compilation no-one ever talks bout them

Good point about the EPs. That would be very cool. Could go really deep in the rabbit-hole and review some of the 90s Split EPs and some rarities like One, Two, Three, Four EP, their 1993 demo EP and their early 1992 sessions with the old line-up. Probably don't have the time for all that while also working on job applications and house hunting haha.
