I liked Pale, but their full-on prog schtick was getting less interesting with each release.

Omg yes. I think it's my fave Pokémon if I had to choose one. It's simply the best. In gen 2 of course, best generation. I think I was just always so keen on having him that it felt like a crazy long time before he was happy enough.
