I like how aggravating this album is, last pages have just been pure shittalking

now if only it was good

Probably because this seems like rap for people who don't like rap. The lyrics are - and always have been - lol bad, the beats are generic, sometimes even irritatingly simplistic, and el p's voice is extremely grating. Idk, i have no clue how they ever became this popular together - they're so much better on their own

yeah idgaf about the lyrics but the beats on RTJ albums have always been annoying and generic as hell

I think a huge part of their appeal is the humour they put in the project, and them advertising themselves really wel. Chanting RTJ on every track makes it easy to remember them as a group.

Still haven't heard a good argument against RTJ or this album in particular btw. I mean 'this is hip-hop for people who don't like hip-hop' is the most abstract fucking grievance I've ever heard, and the rest is just pedantic trite, strawmanning a couple of lines.

I think it's pretty obvious what I'm implying, altho it is mostly biting and an insubstantial claim. To me, it sounds like something I'd show to an edm head who's looking to get more into hiphop. Like a stepping stone to way better stuff. I outlined most of my problems with it in comments past tho. Not about to write ab essay on why i think this is shite

I started out on Nas, old school Jay-Z, Biggie etc and came to love this, besides I fucking despise EDM

I like that they're both forty-five give or take and still singing about banging broads because just for a second my withered pecker feels more alive
|

EDM is a good ol' romp
this album, vs their last two releases which are both substantially better despite still being on the weaker side of hip hop, has some of the flattest chemistry between killer mike and el along with beats that can barely disguise the fact that these guys have no chemistry together.
everything sounds so lifeless and calculated, it just isn't fun.

'generic and uninteresting

Because that isn't an argument my dude, that's an opinion.
The album's on a near 4, so if you wanna be a contrarian, the burden of proof lies with you.

You can't objectively prove why music is bad dude

Don't give me the 'all music is subjective' speech, that shit doesn't fly with me. And yeah, a big part of musical enjoyment is subjective but I still haven't heard anything but 'it's bad because it's bad'. If you guys can't do better than just shittalk why even contribute to the discussion.
