Texas In July made a decent album, so not all Texas-related deathcore is shitty

Someone who thinks this is classic, I don't disagree or agree with you, but what is your thinking behind your rating? What makes this a classic for you? Just curious as to what you're listening for.
|
| |
the 'classic' descriptor next to the 5 is completely meaningless to me
|

Well then perfect. Perfect in what sense? Again, just trying to get a perspective on this as I work through. What marks this above some of its peers?

I 5 albums that are the best example of their style or that I can't imagine being much better. the ones that I come back to year after year for a superior immersive experience, or expect that I will, get that highest rating.

like, Lapsus by Light Bearer and Fluxion by The Ocean probably aren't going to be mentioned with Oceanic and Through Silver In Blood decades from now, but every so often I'll listen to them and for one hour, nothing else in the world matters. the musicianship is fantastic, the songwriting is transportative, and they never get old. that's why it's different for every user; it's hard to explain why something is perfect. it just happens and you get goosebumps and remember why you love music.

my 5s are pretty much anything that scores higher than 4.7 in my head and this makes the cut by virtue of expanding on an already distinctive sound through ever evolving compositional skills and top class technical precision, without really sacrificing anything in my mind. on vinyl the sound is absolutely pristine and served to push it over the edge for me (on CD it's a serious flaw).
dm like this engages me in a fashion very similar to a lot of great classical works which is where it probably scores a lot of subjectivity points from me

im assuming it i find a 320 vinyl rip of this, it will sound better than the version I get with google play, which Id assume is the cd version. anyone wanna confirm that for me lol

probably. iTunes downloads between 120 and 192, for example. honestly, the vinyl shouldn't sound different in most cases -- it's probably a placebo effected by having the thing in your hands with big, beautiful artwork and such -- but apparently they mixed this one differently and it does sound better.

yeah thats why i want the vinyl rip
blasting this in my car i notice the mediocre mixing and volumes and stuff
|

most vinyl releases don't sound better because they're essentially collectors items that use the CD master, but it seems merat used it to get a quality recording past relapse's evil gaze
