Ah I see. The riffs and atmosphere are just so interesting for me.

"Like something Killswitch would do? Haha wow."

"It doesn't sound even remotely like Killswitch, but it is pretty lame."

Seriously? How can you differentiate between the generic chugging in Sorceress and the generic chugging of a generic metalcore band?

You can't tell me you think Opeth's chugging is of any better quality than say Killswitch Engage. It is what is, generic chugging.

That chugging is more close to some generic prog metal band than metalcore tbh

but yeah that riff is soo boring and ugh the intro is the worst part.

The intro is great, love me a bit of Axe going off on one, dude is amazing.

The rest of the album will be better, it's gonna be like the Cusp of the album. Even Mikael said its the most 'single worthy' song on there.

Not really. You'll find chugs exactly like that in a lot of metalcore, more so than in prog metal.

The nuclear blast production makes it sound more 'heavy' than it actually is, man having Wilson not producing the new record will undoubtedly make it sound not as vibrant.

Oh, no. Killswitch's chugging is way better.

Wilson's probably off making more boring music

it's a shame whenever opeth and wilson aren't in the same room together for an album

Wilson has really had nothing to do with Opeth's success.

nah not really but his style of production fits well for their old musical style.

I guess I don't really care much for wilson or new opeth so w/e

Tbh i think the worst thing about the song is the cheesy outro chord

Song doesn't sound even remotely metalcore, bad comparison.

A bit unfair to blame NB for the production considering they hired some English dude with no afilliation to the label that I could find.

No one said the song sounds like metalcore, just that the chugs are equally generic.

The song titles on the new record sound psychedelic af.

Let's hope it's more adventurous than the single.

So apparently Ã…kerfeldt wrote the new album in 6 months. No surprises there. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/opeth-on-how-romantic-mindf--ks-obscure-prog-inspired-new-lp-w431901
