Not being funny, but as far as the technical side of the instrument goes and the sounds he got out of it, you'd be lucky to find someone that matches him in any genre tbh

I don't care about technicality at all tbh or how unique it is, I find feeling/emotion, melody and composition far more important. Guitarists like Latimer are just as distinct as Fripp just in a different way, a way that appeals to me much more. As for the argument that Latimer's guitar playing can be recreated any time, that's no more true than it is about Fripp. Many of Fripp's guitar parts could be played by other guitarists (perhaps not exactly the same as Fripp played them but that's equally applicable to Latimer), it's the creation and compostion of those guitar parts that counts not how easy they are to recreate.

I definitely agree with you Jamie. He's talented, but I just don't like his style at all, one of the main reasons I never loved King Crimson the same way many others did. It's emotionally dead

Well obviously they're completely different guitarists, but I've always valued emotion and the like over technicality for technicalities sake so yeah. But latimer is better than both fo sure

I just don't see how. He had a totally fresh outlook towards the guitar, and Jamie you know I prefer emotion to technicality any day of the week. Fripp's guitar playing and compositions have tons of emotion in them.

I dunno, maybe it's me having my 'favourite band' blinkers on, but RF's guitar playing is second to none for me.

I can't dispute that. Doesn't change the fact that his style doesn't appeal to me anywhere near as much as the likes Hackett, Latimer, Gilmour etc., who to me have far more emotion in their playing.

Fripp had some pretty emotional playing sprinkled throughout KC's discog tho. Exiles solo, starless intro, matte kudasai solo for example
