The album art nearly ruined this record for me.

It's so ugly.

This and R&R are my favorite, honestly. R&R is on top for me by far. Their most aggressive, most technical, most epic, etc. moments are all on that record. I will admit that they sacrifice cohesion a bit but it's better than putting out a boring ass slab of monotony like their new record. Constellations is amazing, just not a fan of the production. Messengers is fun but childish.

I've listened to R&R, like, dozens upon dozens upon dozens of times though so maybe my view is a little biased? But I'm really familiar with all their stuff so hey to each their own

Because it's, in my opinion, possibly the worst thing they've ever done. Not even close to R&R. Production is similar, sure, and the stupid clean breaks, yeah. Otherwise, nah. Provision sucks. But tracks 2-5 are some of my favorite ABR tracks ever. They're faster, more frantic, heavier, more diverse, etc. than anything the new record has to offer.

And the new album is just straight up boring. There are no good, cathartic moments and that's why I'm not into it.

This is definitely their weakest outing, but it's still pretty good. Nothing tops Rescue & Restore for me though

Pangea, Internal Cannon, Carpe Diem, Salt & Light, and Poor Millionaire are really good, but the rest was just not on their regular level

I'd have to listen to them again, I can't recall either track haha. Leveler is their only album that I don't regularly listen to

I don't see how this is inferior to TS or Messengers.

I can see how you could make a case for any of their last 4 albums being their best though
