I'm still waiting to 'grow out' of this album and it's a solid 12 years on for me. Don't listen to it as much as I used to but it still absolutely hits in all the right places.

This is fun as hell but I get exhausted by the time Skin Ticket comes on.... and some of these lyrics are just.. lmao. And I'm not going to pretend I've never felt this angry before in kind of a punk juvenile way lol

Yeah The Shape is typically where I tap out a lot of times out of exhaustion.

That's def one of main things the S/T has over this one... it's like 15 minutes shorter and paced bit better. As amazing of a run as the first five songs are, I think this album could've benefitted from having those tracks spread out across the album as opposed to all clumped together.

Gently's payoff is massive, ye.

Agreed with the drumming too, album single handedly inspired me to become a drummer back in the day.

So damn angry, love it.

There's heavier albums out there and everything, but this one has a raw aggression that is unmatched.

Even as I get older it gets me pumped up every time, great gym album.

That's how I am with The Cleansing by Suicide Silence. There are heavier and more well-written deathcore albums out there, but there's a certain aggression and brutality to that album that still gets me pumped and ready to fuck up the moshpit (or at least I will once this COVID shit dies down)

The heaviness and anger in this comes from a different place. It’s not heavy just because it’s a metal album and it’s supposed to be, it’s heavy because despite the fame and fortune they were experiencing they were still just fucked up individuals with music being the only outlet for them exorcise those inner demons.

Yeah, there's nothing synthetic about this at all.

The lyrics are a reflection of that, yeah they might be cringe at times but it feels as if Corey just put his thoughts/feelings at the time on the page.
