Well the stage I just heard when it came out and enjoyed it. Difference between that and city is I just don’t enjoy the songwriting on city at all. But yeah stage is still a bit of a slog

ahhhhhh
see to me the stage is like if city was pretentious as fuck and had somehow more meandering songs with worse vocals and no nostalgia so its basically to me what everyone doesnt like about city but like, with prog bs

It's an alright album. "God Hates us," "Natural Born Killer," and "Save Me" are the best here imo.

@Onion shockingly I actually really enjoyed that 16-minute track. First time I feel that a7x justified an overly long track length.

probably because exist is basically two different songs. The first instrumental half and then the second half with the clean guitars and matt’s balladry.

Which is why I find it’s finally justified. They had something interesting to display the whole time and kept it fresh

That's because Exist exhibited the concept of the Big Bang and the earth's subsequent creation. The instrumental first half is the Big Bang itself, and the ballad portion and outro are about the aftermath. Pretty cool concept, honestly, and I like the band's fresh take on it

Honest to god I think people that hate this album just base that on their hatred for the band in general. It’s a beautiful record focused on anger, hate, depression, and loss.
Honestly might be the best mainstream metal record ever made. Nearly everything about it is perfect.
Fiction is the only weak spot and even then it was only included because it was Jimmy’s last contribution.

Hey now... I wouldn’t say all that. At the very least Waking the Fallen is better, and I think I like CoE more as well.

Nightmare edges out Waking the Fallen a bit for me tbh

I usually go with The Stage or Waking the Fallen, but god damn this album is hitting me hard right now and I don’t even know why.
Welcome to the Family was a lead single but I really feel like that track just doesn’t get enough love. And Save Me is just fucking masterful from start to finish.
