surrounded is really bad

setting: incorrect
one of the rare dream theater songs that goes in about 3 equally engaging directions while still resting on rly robust songwriting chops. top tier labrie performance also

>""Another Day" and "Surrounded", as well as various bits throughout other songs, constitute a progressive rock secondary."
> sorry, those songs might not have anything to do with metal, but they similarly have absolutely nothing to do with prog rock. they're just straightforward rock with pop structuring. prog metal primary is sufficient for this album, I think.

theres not really any jank here
half this album is excellent accessible catchy hooky rushy prog metal
learning to live is alright, the rest is binnable
|
| |
met 1 and take the time are definitely prone to jank
glass moon too, but that one's innocuous and mostly bangs
some individual moments of jank are p cool but the ramblewank on those tracks is real
good album?

At least the ramblewank isn't nearly as bad here as on future DT albums... In the Name of God from ToT has perhaps the most unbearable solo this band ever put to record
