I'd listen to it over the s/t as well, as much as I love that album :]

Exactly, great way to put it.

S/t definitely has issues but it’s one of those rare albums where its flaws are part of its “charm”/why it works so well. Its imperfection ironically is part of what makes it perfect. Which is why it’s a solid 5 for me.

Dirt is just a straight up perfect album, and also a 5. Dirt is objectively better, but it’s hard for me to say which is actually my favorite. Same with superunknown vs down on the upside for that matter.

And now I’m fucking rambling.

This is certainly a more “fun” listen than a/t, less of a dark, depressing slog…but I like dark, depressing slogs

no I mean there’s a few songs on self titled that just aren’t that good. Nothin Song is probably my least favorite aic ever. Brush Away and So Close are pretty forgettable.

Everything else is fucking phenomenal.

Joining the chorus of those who have bumped their scores of Black Gives Way from 4 to 4.5. This thing is a grower and stayer. I'd rank it about even with S/T or even Facelift.

What DuVall pulled off here is nothing short of amazing. Those were really big shoes to fill and he does it in style.
