These guys are a testament to the fact that u don't have to be an absolute virtuoso to make mind-bending music. There's something intangible and special about what they do and I don't think it will ever be replicated

Nope. Nobody really sounds like Neurosis, even though there are shitloads of bands heavily influenced by them. They've just got a different approach to songwriting. If I was a spiritual person I would say it has to come from another plane of existence.
