If anything that's a sign that they underplay their talent, especially on this given how simplistic a lot of it is. It does have its moments though, like the soloing in Psychosocial and some of the stuff in Sulfur.

I wouldn't say they underplay as much as they do what's appropriate for this style of music. It's a good mix of groove and technicality.

Eh I don't find any Slipknot album to be hard to play on guitar

technicality =/=difficulty

Meh I think there's a direct relation between both

what about the opening to Opium of the People? That's got to be a bit challenging.

Agreed with Spirit. Quite a rare thing in this day and age is a band that holds back. Jim Root is a superb guitarist.

I agree with Spirit about technicality not necessarily equaling difficulty, just one example is the guitar work from Tool, which
has constant switching of time signatures but most of the riffs are easy drop D stuff

concluding track is pretty cool too

Constant switching of time signatures is not easy.
I think technicality does equal difficulty. I don't care who disagrees.

"He and Paul Gray were the best parts of the band and now they're both gone :/"
Lol. What did Paul Grey ever actually do for the band? I can't even hear the bass in most Slipknot songs.
Was he a songwriter?

"He wrote a majority of the music in the band, but he was never the one to try and take as much credit as he could"

"a" majority seems pretty vague. You can't write "a" majority, you can only write THE majority.
I don't know, he just never seemed that important to me. No one cared about him until he was dead.

I'm the same. If they handed out songwriting credits for all the tracks maybe I would see the big
issue with him leaving, but right now, most people saying that he was one of the best aspects of the
band just look weird and pessimistic to me.

His basslines were pretty complicated, they followed the guitar lines a lot like in sulfur which for most of the time is harder to play on bass than guitar, I would know since I've played some of their songs on both
