Mongi I love you dude but I can't help my opinion be different rn. I was about to give this a 4.5, have been listening on repeat the past couple days. But hmm. Idk. Elephant Talk, Frame by Frame, & Indiscipline are easy 10/10 tracks for me. Easily. Indiscipline was sooo ahead of its time holy shit. The rest of the tracks on here don't hit that level for me. It was gonna be a 4.5, but I listened to this and Remain in Light back-to-back on a run today & dangit I love that album.
All that said, Court & Red are classics, but Discipline has so much more re-listenability to it. Will jam this many many times.

I listened to this yesterday and RIL today and this is without a doubt better for me but to each their own. Red is another hard 5!

To each their own!
This all being said, I think I respect KC more bc how their big albums all sound so different and engaging, whereas RIL is the o n l y TH album I can get through in one sitting.

They did the best they could with this shakashaka aesthetic...don't quite know what to think on this one..Red is my jam tho

can't help you there. i tend to need a long time to get into highly rated albums but this one was love at first sight/listen. shakashaka is merely the surface though, king crimson changes that up every few years. gotta open up to whatever they throw at you.

This is great, yes. Quite possibly better than Lizard and Poseidon.

I've always felt like this was a mesh of old 70s KC and Talking Heads, but it has never excited me as much as either of those elements do separately. Maybe I need to give this another listen, it's been a while. I like it a lot, and Elephant Talk is an awesome opener, but whenever I'm in the mood for KC, I always find myself reaching for Court, Red, Poseidon, Lizard, Larks, or Islands. And on some occasions, S&BB. I've only come back to this one a few times.

Tks guys. All of your inputs matter to me. Still need to check Lizard. Anyway I sense nothing will overcome Red or the debut, or prob this one (even though I don t dig much of this aesthetic).

Larks is better than red

Looking fw for that one too x) hell of an AVG

Lizard is overrated, Poseidon basically follows the Court sound, Larks is awesome and better than this, in my humble opinion, but nothing beats Red ♥

I must say I m all about Red's darker tone. I can see this is very good technicaly...just not my style, but I can see a slight bump happening if I dig underneath, cause it looks pretty complex.

This is top 3 Crimson, ahrd.

Yes, the vibe on that record is beautiful. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
|
| |
Red is best King Crimson, agreed
|
| |
Red
Court
Poseidon
Islands
Larks
Lizard
Starless & Bible Black
Discipline
and then after that, I start to fall out of love with the overly-produced 80s vibe, and their 00s, proggy-metal stuff doesn't exactly do it for me, either. nothing bad per se, but relatively uninteresting compared to everything they did from Disciple & back.
