Churchill no different
Wished the workers bled to a machine"

I don't think any album had quite the same effect on me this one did, decided to "auto" 5 it even though I haven't heard it in years... honestly not sure I could listen to it anymore such is the emotional weight I have associated with it. Seriously, seriously, dark record.

One of the very very very very very very very very few albums were the lyrics are as important as the music.

"HE'S A BOY

it's funny, on paper these could have easily been the lyrics to a Marilyn Manson song or something, but in the context of the music i would have never thought that
i guess that's just part of the charm of this record

I'd argue the lyrics are actually MORE important & that isn't something I'd usually say, ever...

The music combined with those lyrics give an unique result. Like someone said, it's part of its charm.

if it was produced more like Gold Against the Soul, maybe, but i feel like the sound of this record and even just the music at its core are just as important

This album is like the Holy Bible of good alt rock. 4st 7lb kills me with how depressing and stark it is.

I still need to revisit this tbh

Yeah the production is great, creates a fitting, dark atmosphere & is important but the lyrics are paramount. Obviously, if either was lacking the album would fail, regardless of which it was.
