I remember druqks having this bad rep growing up; now it seems like people have rightfully recognized that it's fuego albeit kinda crazy

For a second I thought I might have been making that up but the incredibly generous allmusic gave it 3 stars, pitchfork the 5.5 pan, Rolling Stone ONE star. Spin, Q, The Guardian not much more friendly

Good point, but I think after the previous two even a lot of fans were like, “Get a damn editor”. It’s all random anecdotes at this point but it def was a sleeper/“cult” thing that has had a revival imho

I bet it had to do with the super short filler tracks and musique concrete that peopld didn’t get

for sure it’s a sleeper once you look past those to hear the undeniably great drill’n’bass

Honestly I don't even know why those publications still exist

People that isn't into music certainly aren't looking forward to what Rolling Stone or Billboard have to say. They don't care

On the other hand, people which are into music know that they lack any kind of credibility and will resort to RYM, Sputnik, Pitchfork or Fantano for music reviews.

Pitchfork and Fantano are as bad as Rolling Stone or Billboard for me tho

they’re made for the everyman which you are not

care to be elitist about farm magazines like some individuals I unfortunately know?

Not trying to be elitist. I know that's supposed to be the audience but ironically I've never met a single person who cares or knows about them. The only people I know that know of Rolling Stone or Billboard as the people who are into music and see them as crappy magazines

So, not trying to be elitist, just noting that it feels like there's a void in the audience these magazines are made for. They exist so of course that there's people consuming them, I just have never met one
