Master's Apprentices > this album

But even that doesn't even come close to top 10 songs

I think it does.

Wreath is perhaps a bit too long, although it has that hypnotizing factor and sets the atmosphere for this album. And the vox are awesome.

That and For Absent Friends are all I can manage on here.

yeah the first two songs are trying too hard to be heavy and not nearly as interesting as their previous material

Problem is, the entire record (barring A Fair Judgment and For Absent Friends) feels like Opeth losing their identity. It's heaviness for the sake of heaviness, and yet the whole thing feels so unfocused and aimless anyway

I will admit that I like the title track, though

I agree with Necro. This album just feels too monotonous and unfocused to keep my attention. It's not bad, but it could be so much better.

Very solid, but among their worst. Heritage might even be better than this

It's not bad but I wouldn't call it great either. Has ok moments but I just don't think the songs are their best. But yeah, not a 2

There are some enjoyable tracks, but it's not a very strong release, I think. Still good however.

In my opinion their worst album.

I think it is just good for some mindless headbanging. It is great for when I want to keep my Opeth jam session going, but need some Morbid Angel type riffs.

Such a great album, one of their darkest and most intense releases.
