other than that, great review and i'm in love with this album. the title track is the most brutal song opeth has written to date.

I bought this album based off the sheer hype for Opeth that's around here, and I must say, I was not dissapointed.

Not even Orchid and Morningrise without Lopez and Mendez?

Morningrise is Opeth's third best imo, behind this and Still Life. And i prefer Orchid to Deliverance and Damnation.

Okay so I listened to some of it. It's obviously good but (and I'm sure you won't like this) the BTBAM me guy sings better, they shread better and the solo's and clean bits are more interesting.

Are you sure "superficial" is the right word? I'm not sure how you can think that...I was going for the complete opposite.
the BTBAM me guy sings better
Um...keep listening. If you here some more and still feel that way, let me know and I'll send you some Opeth that really showcases his clean voice.

no way, Mikael is way better... and maybe superficial was the wrong word, perhaps abstract, but i quite like it

lunchforthesky,

How can you compare BTBAM to Opeth? They are in a whole other league!

Well that's just your opinion. I don't really care either way.

Musically they are different but not vastly different.

A lot different, I would say. I mean they can't sound similar if they're both progressive.

They don't sound too similar but they are close enough to compare. It's not like comparing them to Radiohead or something.
