Playing Jazz guitar is not "Basically how you master guitar",no im sorry,"Classical Music" and music theory is how you "master" guitar.I listen to metal 99% of the time and im telling you that this album is thrash.Thrash is all about the riffing patterns and if you claim to be a guitar player and then say this album isnt thrash than I would like to meet your guitar teacher.
Thats like saying Megadeth or Testament isnt trash.
Probably another guy that thinks anything that isnt At the Gates isnt trash.

You know who I ****ing hate?Death Metal bands that write about the same **** over and over again and use the same blast beat patterns and muffled growling and stupid cliche' album covers.

And your attempts to reason that this album is thrash have nullified your comments. Jazz guitar is built 100% on music theory. Classical guitar is virtually nothing but reading sheet music. I'm not wasting anymore time on this, let alone try to direct you to some real thrash albums. I tried to be nice at first but you had to keep coming back with the "I'm the infallable metal guitarist and everyone else here is stupid" persona. okay, so how bout those Mets? lol, this really needs to stop. Well back to the music, on another listen to the instrumental I do have to agree that there are some unrelated riffs. That however should not take down the quality of the song that much to not point it out as a bright spot since instrumentals are so hard to come by nowadays.

I think that because I play metal guitar it makes me an authority?I think that because I learned how to play classical guitar first,that makes me an authority,you're godamn right.I didnt play metal until about 5 years ago because I didnt have the speed to play it well.Its hard going from playing with only your fingers to playing with a pick,trust me,I took a huge hit in speed once I started learning the typical way to play guitar.Metal is rooted in jazz,which in turn is rooted in classical music.Just being a metal guitar player is like only opening one of your eyes half way,youre not gonna see the whole picture.This is one of the reasons why I love Opeth.

The earliest metal guitarists played blues. Duh! Unless you count Ritchie Blackmore who was more influenced by music of the Baroque period.
