My understanding (I could be wrong) is that edits will go through, but the moderator team is lightning fast at taking down edits that are wrong, abusive, or uncited. That's how you can see people take screenshots of Wikipedia being edited to say horribly wrong/funny things, the edit will remain until a mod undoes it.

yeah. small caveats: (a) some articles are protected because too many people vandalise them. (b) vandalisers get their ip banned
