This is the bestest Converge album I’ve ever heard

Nate might be a more technically gifted vocalist than Jacob but show me any performance of his that approaches the buck ass wild nature of Jane Doe or any of the lyrical talent.
Not to take away from him here, because he does sound phenomenal. They both do tbh, I really might say that this is both of them at their best vocally.

Yeah, the vocal performance on this is wild.

Nate absolutely rules on this record. Maybe his best vocal performance on a Converge record

Easily, and while I do for sure think AWLWB is better than this… I dunno Jacob hasn’t sounded like he’s been this emotionally distressed in literal decades. He sounds like he’s on the verge of complete crisis at more than a few points here and I don’t even really think that there’s a way gauge the like, quality(?) of that.
I hope all of this makes sense, because there’s something genuinely upsetting to me about the vocals here. Love is Not Enough was already a pretty bleak album thematically, but this takes it to another level imo.
This fucking album got to me man.

“What made me whole is slipping through my hands
Youth leaves us all as this death commands
And I can't shake these beasts from my bones
It's their rabid hunger that built me this home
And it sickens me to say this is the only way
But if it hurts you I know it must be true”
band makes me feel less alone

I'm also spending time awake in the early hours, also probably reading too much into the lyrics, Converge have always been this band for me and we're lucky to have them.

I love Converge

Mee too bro. Love is not enough m/

really hoping this is a lot more interesting than Love Is Not Enough and not just B sides
|
| |
Its a whole different vibe imo
More on the atmo sludgy side but still riffing

Definitely not B-sides, that's for sure.

Not as much my style as Love Is Not Enough, but still pretty strong. Hum of Hurt and Detonator stood out on first listen.

HOH has the better flow and it's more consistent from beginning to end. Definitely prefer this to LINE, and at the same time this album elevates LINE (because they are CLEARLY sister releases).
These guys are just incredible. Bunch of 50 year olds showing how it's done. Also props to Kurt Ballou, really dig his production style of both of these.

Yeah, while Love is Not Enough is really damn good, this is pretty easily better imo. Like I’m pretty sure I knew before my first listen was over that I liked it more

Also a contender for one of Converge's greatest tracks ever, those descending guitar lines over Kurt's screams get me every time
