Makes sense. Usually I'm the same way, but for whatever reason this connected with me right away.

Listening again now, after getting through the first two tracks again I might drop those for a while…that’s a lot of uneventful intro.
The opening of the third track is a better intro to the album tbh, I miss nothing starting there. Third song sounds like recent Slowdive with a drop more soundtrack cinematics, it’s solid.

Aw, I really like the first two. Opener reminds me I Can Almost See You. Actually, both tracks remind me of how Raising Your Voice opens

Fourth song not as good as the third but Slowdive/The Cure with the same atmospheric washes that unify the album. As said before, still no ‘ears prick up’ moment - lovely ambience is all.

Title track best thing by far so far this listen, sort of ‘Takk’ meets a mellow moment from ‘Hurry Up We’re Dreaming’.
‘Chemicals’ when everything drops to the string part in the middle is a standout moment. Composition overall tiny bit bland compared to the t/t.
Rest of the album is similar to the start but the final track is solid crescendocore so there's 32 minutes of decent here, so I'll 3.5.

Sigur Ros meets M83 is a pretty apt comparison for a handful of moments here

I think both bands kinda influence each other. They arrived around the same time and they can sound alike even though their approach might be different.
