I'll agree with you on the influential part, but for me the songwriting on closer is more focused and
sophisticated, and the production hasn't dated as badly either

yeah i see how someone could feel that way, but this album is 32 years old so of course it'll sound a tad bit dated in some ways. personally i think the production holds up really well, i think it's aged nicely
