Yeah true and I vibed hard with Ice Fleet and you didn’t 😂
I’m also hoping it’s a mood thing. I’d love for this to worm its way into my loving heart

I really really wanted to like it more but the album pretty much runs into a wall and falls apart after soothe / sear. Which is probably quite corresponding with the journeys of that fabric but still struggle to remember a single tune after that. It then just kinda goes to the end without much point. First half is brilliant as ever, I give it that. And don't get me wrong, it's still great, just can't percieve it as a whole.
Also this time he really went over the edge with 'cinematic' which results in everything being sometimes mashed up and buried in the mix.
Overall giving me Kuu/Sorni Nai vibes, unfortunately my least favourite Kauan albums.

Yeeea I know everyone is hyped about Sorni Nai pretty much everywhere but that is the album I just can't get into no matter how I tried. Kuu is just some kind of middle ground between old and new Kauan.

fwiw i think sorni nai has an amazing front half and it loses steam towards the second half
kuu feels really loose and sparse but it works really well because it keeps you engaged the whole way through - i think it's extremely underrated and underappreciated. in fact it might actually be my most listened to kauan album period
sounds daft but play stardew valley, mute the in-game music and just put kuu on loop. it's literally perfect and it'll give you a brand new appreciation for it. trust.

Man, this brought me right back to hearing Aava Tuulen Maa and Kuu for the first time. Really great album. Probably my AOTY.

i will say there is one thing keeping me a little more reserved on this album and that it's the first kauan album that has absolutely zero surprises - everything here they've already done before. i could name at least one thing with every successive album that made me go "oh cool, wasn't expecting that" and for as much as i like this (rating speaks for itself) i do hope whatever comes next veers more outside of their comfort zone.
that said, i do think this is their most refined, cohesive and consistent album. it would be a nice way to end this era of kauan and usher in the next with something a bit more left field as it takes what they've done before and refines it beautifully, even if the result of that is quite predictable.
