The response to this is so much better than I expected. I'm so glad it's resonating with people in a way that it only seemed to partially do for me.

i can def see how this one may turn some off tbh... the clean/harsh vox split has gotta be something like 80/20 on here?
think it really makes them stand out in today's scene. feel like no other band is going this hard while featuring this much cleans (especially with the confidence of these guys)

Agree. This has Say Hello to Sunshine vibes for me in the sense it’s not what I expected and isn’t as immediate at all but when you connect with it it’s something else entirely

its 100% a step down, less heavy, less chaotic, less catchy, it's more kind of boring and slow and soft. Def their worst release to date unfortunately. everything previously slapped, but this is their first miss. Solid 3/5, but no more than that. Shame too, their EP the previous year was a straight fucking banger. Sure hope they don't continue this newer soft sound going forward, otherwise I'll just become an ex-fan girl.

Couldn’t disagree more with the profiteer but I understand the take. It felt that way at first but that feeling didn’t last long for me. Even if you prefer this less than their old stuff which is completely valid, all of this has crafted a perfect place in their discog as unique

And to be frank I too think I prefer their older stuff and Stereo Grief but this is right there in quality. Just not my preference of sound as compared to their priors. I do think this is better than TB&BW

Noticing the current ratings of their discog is exactly how I feel actually lol.
EB > Stereo Grief > This > TB&BW

On my first listen, really enjoying this, just like everything they put out. I'm down for Brent singing or screaming, he sounds great no matter what he does.

Technicolor Blue is an absolute banger holy shit!

With a voice that good the man can sing as much as he wants. Not like there's a shortage of screaming throughout their material, I have no problem with this taking a bit of a different approach.
I'll probably end up ranking their stuff the same as nash, gotta do a full run some time this week to confirm. Empty Black is untouchable though.

I haven’t found anything on this that matches an inverse of self reflection and ornaments from the well. The closers on the last 2.

I like Ornaments a lot, but I think Technicolor Blues pretty confidently outdoes it in a similar build-up style.

I can’t figure out where to put this or put my finger totally on my feelings on it. I guess I’m a bit in the same feel as the review. It’s not that Brent sings way more necessarily that gets to me, Stereo Grief has a lot of singing too, I think maybe it’s just that it’s gotten way more straight forward and predictable.
At the monument, I’m also not a fan of Technicolor Blues…I’m really trying to like acoustic guitar Greyhaven but I just can’t get into it. I like it once it gets going halfway thru though.
Overall, I like this a lot. It’s not Empty Black or Stereo Grief, but it’s up there. I think it depends on which side of Greyhaven you like more, if you like singing, this is better that TBABW, but if you like the straight for the jugular chaos onslaught Greyhaven this is probably not as good as TBABW.
I don’t know. Time will tell.

This is a really solid, great album, but I do feel it is a bit front-heavy. The front 6 song run is just stellar, but then in the latter half only Satellite in Love and Cemetery Sun seems to really stand out for me. I'm kinda split between either a 3.5 or 4.0. Great stuff for sure, though!

I am a bit sad about such a lack of mid/high end. It's quite a muffled record while the mixing etc. is not that bad, might just be a bit of a mastering mistake.
Not sure if this record will grow a lot on me or leave me relatively lukewarm. it's not bad at all though, but it lacks some energy due to the lack of higher frequencies.

Was cooler on this one than expected on first listen but after a few spins it fully sunk its claws and it just plain rules.
