I love Buried in the Sun but Scavengers, Color of the Sun and Robot make that album for me.

In contrast, H/E is considerably superior to this. I just listened to both back to back and I'm tempted to even bump the rating up for that one because it's far more engaging than this. I don't hear what everyone else is hearing here and I'm also not impressed by "Vesper Light".

yea East clears this with the Summer Set Fire/Still Life combo alone imo. also the mix is so much better than on here

I never even listene to h/e, if it doesn’t have the horribly produced electronic elements this does I’m in

H/E is much more interesting than this.

I was a bit underwhelmed on first listen- however just spinned it on my airpods and loved it.

The details and sound really shined on headphones over my car stereo. Great album.

That's the thing, if you can get past the production, the underlying music is great. I also found that headphones made a big difference.

Undertow is awesome, and Vesper Light is such a Vheissu track, I love it. Production is definitely too muddled, but the song-writing is there and the fucking Breckenridge brothers just get better and better with every passing release.

For me the mixing/production is better than H/E, and substantially better than Palms and TBE, though there's a few trouble spots. The songs here are all really great though many of them could have definitely benefited from continuing just a bit longer.

I agree this is excellent, but my future Thrice wishlist is that they'll go either full blown heavy or full blown experimental again. Even if just for one more album. Getting tastes of it here via Gnash and Vesper Light was awesome.

I just want them to bring the gimmick to its natural conclusion.

Give me a Horizons/South and Horizons/North pronto.

Digging this, anyone else get a “Schism” vibe from one of the riffs in Vesper Light? Great tune

All i can say is that in a fair world Distant suns should have been a radio hit. Brilliant record and at the moment i like it even more than TBE.

''I would say Major/Minor was their peak, but I think Beggars and Major/Minor are very close together."
