Gig Life and Getting Sodas are definitely in my top 10

Getting sodas is still goated but there’s probably some nostalgia at play too. But this album is very good, probably a 4 for me. I almost wish they’d gone all in on the metalcore sound but it’s still way heavier than I’d ever thought they’d be.

Hell yeah to them going all in on that metalcore sound… maybe next time around. This shit is great. It’s unreal that this is the same band that made Harmlessness

Not that they were bad before, this is just a wild stylistic shift

As someone who first encountered them at Illusory Walls, this feels like a natural progression. I can understand how it might be jarring for older fans though.

Tho I do wish they retained a tiny bit more of the jangle than they did.

In tandem with the new Bruit and Maruja albums, this just feels so... alive and reactionary to the times. This feels like a band responding in real time to the violence and apocalyptic global political climate. Definitely a lightning in a bottle sort of moment.

low-key like this more than anything else of theirs I've heard, hits a particular spot

Completely agreed. I even listened to Illusory Walls the other day just to check and make sure it wasn't that I was in a different headspace with this one. Dreams... feels more mature, more focused, and more energetic.

For me it's that this feels directly relevant and purposeful in the context of surrounding world events. Illusory Walls touched on a lot of the same topics but was more affable. This one is fed up.

I need to give these guys a listen. So far I've only heard one album and I don't really remember any of it, other than You Can't Live There Forever which is one of my favourite songs.

The band now is practically unrecognizable to that song/album Gyro

Illusory Walls holds a special place in my heart because a couple songs directly reference my town/area (where David Bello is from)

I think Illusory Walls still holds a slight edge for me over this because it's peak prog-emo and is just so grand. Also it's everything I've ever wanted from a Circa Survive album.
This is gritty and angry though, and a lot of days I find myself relating to it more.

It is so depressing we wont get another Circa Survive and Anthony Green commits to a mediocre band like LS Dunes
Illusory Walls is great

LS Dunes has released some pretty great albums. His recent solo work and The Sound of Animals Fighting has also been great. Would love for him to just return to circa though.

LS Dunes has some alright tracks but it doesnt compare to Circa
Sound of Animals is good but always has some tracks that keeps me from loving it.
That Apeshit EP slapped tho

Sometimes I almost prefer this to IW.

No way, but this is a stellar and unique record on its own.
