i think i'm settling on a 3.5 for this after extensive listens - it's just a really comforting album and the fact it's a bit understated helps that. i do wish it didn't constantly use the same chord progressions song to song because it makes them difficult to distinguish but it's really nice when i have it on.

maybe he's limited by vocal skills? a lot of emo-esque music has somewhat understated vocals like this though

Thats true, but the vocals have been more varied and the singer has showed he has range on Waves for example. Or do they have a new vocalist? In "My Life Is A Chase Dream" he really shows off what he can do. I guess they just went for a more subtle vibe on this and thats cool tho

i typically have the same complaint for this kinda vocal style. feels a bit subdued for sure.

but there's just something about his tone that's still so impressive. and it serves the songs well
