Definitely not their best since Apollo. No World, Vaxis 1, and Ascension are all better, but this is excellent, and I'm pleasantly surprised by it. Considerably better than II imo

Band should just release suite EPs instead of overwrought rehash full lengths

NWFT isn't better than this but Afterman is. This also dunks on YOTBR and TCBTS. Doesn't reach the highs of V1 maybe but I think it's more solid on the whole. Definitely benefits from following up a major misstep on the last one. My score is too high but I prob won't change it

NWFT is great and probably their 4th best album, just behind their first 3

Yep...then diminishing returns

Even the black rainbow has more highlights than every album after it. I only like four songs on it but they're legit jams

Which 4? I can usually find at least a couple good songs on their bottom-tier albums

Juggernaut, Made Out of Nothing, When Skeletons Live and World of Lies are all p tight on YOTBR, much as I do not rate that alb at all

Far Is maybe top ten Coheed imo...15 fs

Yeah I’ve gotta agree with you on that 1; Far is the runaway highlight on the album imo. I really like Juggernaut too, but I’m drawing a blank on other notable tracks

Guns of summer is really good but super atypical coheed...Pennie stuff. Definitely a one-off
So I'm going to cut my list back to three when skeletons live and world of lies are c minus NWFT tracks

I just went back to the album and idk, When Skeletons Live is decent enough but it doesn't do much for me. World of Lines is standing out to me more though, and then there's Black Rainbow which is top 3 Coheed ofc

To each their own. I've never been able to get behind that song even a little bit

Haha I was def not being serious about that. World of Lines is so so good tho Idk why I didn't notice this one before

It's a great riff but it's just more Apollo stuff sound wise. The standouts on YOTBR to me are the few that I see push the coheed sound in new directions
I'm glad you were joking about black rainbow. I think there are actually people that believe that is a great song ...abysmal failure of a closer

Also Al the killer is astonishingly great and a perfect example of the type of vignette Coheed song we don't seem to get anymore. It's always the writer writing his lines and never a character study

" I think there are actually people that believe that is a great song"
That's wild. It was on earlier when my gf unexpectedly walked into the room and I felt kind of embarrased to have it blasting lol.
Juggernaut, Far, and now World of Lines make up my top 3, and in hindsight they're good enough that I'm gonna up my rating to a 3

Yes! Al the Killer is maybe a top 10 Coheed track for me

Happy coheed day

The Father of Make believe is sick… totally that classic coheed feel
