i like how this album has its finger on the pulse of the very well-done kin/valley stuff while also technically being a throwback. it's a whole different beast. pre-valley the only album i ever return to is self titled

Yeah, that stuff is what is actually getting my attention here, the last two tracks in particular nail the balance of brutality with strong melodic elements throughout. I don't care about the cleans, just give me some a strong melody SOMEWHERE, even if it's backseat to everything else. I crave that shit and when it is used well here it's soooo nice.

This is shaping up to a solid 3.5 about halfway through. Its heavy as balls with some sick vox and riffs but its just very samey. Have the same opinion on This is Exile. Really good stuff just not something thats not out of the ordinary for the genre in any way.
