@LePsych Tundra is always going to be biased and opinionated. I asked him about it and he really does hate this album. Just embrace it also Slint > Bob Dylan

This is a great album, even though the singer’s inward turn and antisocial performance seems like it might be a lot to take—all of the songs have an unusual storytelling quality that the vocals seem in service of, and the very good lyrics dovetail with the structures to make the songs really compelling in their entireties. The “angular” guitar hooks are masterful at every turn—every song has an unforgettable guitar thing—but what propels the album up in the rock music rankings for me is the hard to describe manner in which the songs develop as if yoked to or motivated by the really compelling Shakespearean drama of an inward turned soul. “Post-rock” as a label feels right in this regard, but in this regard it exceeds and feels different from other putatively post-rock stuff

this album has an uncanny ability to make me dissociate and really takes me to a place outside of my own body and it's why I've always loved it. Even though I didn't discover it until like 2016, late bloomer
