@Clefairy The contractual obligation is a rumour circulating in different websites and media. The middle finger comment was something I posted some pages ago, just a personal interpretation. Do you want another "American Teenager"? Here's 15 minutes of scary drone.

“ I would say this is every bit as bad and disappointing as the new Godspeed album.”

Yeah this is great. I agree with the “it could’ve been trimmed down” points but Hayden took a big risk going in this direction and I think it’s admirable, and for the most part she nails it.

I view this how I view some of the best film scores. Yes, it’s not catchy or the most accessible thing ever, but it has an amazing atmosphere and if you’re in the right mood it’s pretty entrancing tbh

tbh one of my issues with preacher's daughter is some of the repetition rly didn't lend itself as a strength (and i have zero issue with repetition as a compositional tool. sometimes it's done well. was a slight detriment on that album tho... imo anyway).

excited to listen to this tho anyway.

amber waves is like straight up grouper-core to me in the best possible way. evil alien observer. decrepit, haunted southern shack alien observer

After two listens in a row I think this is fantastic if you’re in the right mood (will not jam it while cycling to work for sure). I’m quite puzzled because I hated PD when I gave it a try. But seeing how divisive this EP is, it may indeed be *that* different.

When it comes to digestibility, I find it similar to Lingua Ignota’s last album: a bit heavy on the stomach, but fondles the heart.

I kinda disagree. Sinner Get Ready is more engaging imo, I don’t know the lyrics so I don’t know if there’s some thematic similarities but this is so much slower and more… methodic I guess? I dunno, I adore Sinner Get Ready but I wouldn’t compare it to this, but also in the same breath I could absolutely see someone that likes the Lingua record digging this.

Both albums present a unique take on religion/sex, but while Sinner Get Ready is much more confrontative via its lyrics (so yes, its more cerebral), this one triggers uneasiness via drones. Still, I found myself in a similar mood after finishing both.
