It's too early to tell if it's better than Separation or TTWTWM, but I definitely like this better than LWM, though my feelings on that have improved since it came out, especially if you include the Slowheart songs in that discussion. Sure, they aren't doing anything groundbreaking for them, but it's the B&C formula executed perfectly. For someone who's loved the band for years and always felt like they went out too early, this is a perfect comeback album.

This being the traditional B&C formula is what’s wrong with it imo. Band has never once attempted to broaden their scope or take even the smallest risk. I reckon if you’re a sucker for their earlier work there’s a good bit to like here

This is far from traditional B&C. As meh as this album is they have definitely changed their sound quite a few times. From Only Boundaries to Separation, from TTWTWM to LWM and then to this.

lethargic sounding instrumentation and especially one dimensional vocal performance. the vocals here sound so bored and (mostly) one-note, almost borderline text-to-speech sounding in some songs. overall this album is okay and is listenable, but it's really lacking the energy of their past albums and leaves me feeling a bit disappointed

vocals are def my biggest complaint, so sleepy with no passion. maybe i’m missing something.

Tigers Jaw split and Only Boundaries are their best works for sure

I think the vox are good but they are indeed in need of more variation. They are reminiscent of Dustin Kensrue in Thrice but without the power and variety lol

I have always had a weal spot for I Just Want to Be Pure EP

Lead Foot is a clear highlight here. Still gotta run through this a few more times to see where it settles, but I do like it quite a bit. Doesn't top Separation or TTWTWM though

Lol balance imo has always had really good vocals. the ones here are pretty interesting melodically and rhythmically compared to a lot of the rest of the genre. i feel like that's kind of where they changed their sound a bit on this one. they also always have killer vocal harmonization going on in the background.

also re: risk taking, i def agree with redrig, their sound has changed every release. i mean they still retain common elements but every release is a different shade for sure.

part of me does see how this is kind of a mishmash of what has worked in the past and i wish it was a bit more like too quick to forgive but still a really dope record. whatever they're doing always works for me. think someone said jon's voice was like a warm blanket and i couldn't agree more lol

^ that was me lol. out of everything i could complain about with this release, the vocals arent even on the list. I get why they don’t jive with some people tho.

hard agree, those are my two favorites. and yeah i feel like they use a few similar transitions both between songs here and other songs they've done in the past but i'm willing to look past it haha. vocals are def last on the list of complaints. also feels somewhat less riffy than past stuff although i'm not sure if that's just something i'm making up or not. might settle into more of a 4 eventually but i still really dig this and already can't wait for the next record.

I remember these guys were kind of a big deal in that "pop punk by way of Brand New worship" scene in the late 00s & early 10s but I somehow hadn't heard a single tune by em until this just now. super slick, hooky, moody record. glad I didn't keep blowing them off

This has grown on me quite a bit

Lyrically it feels a little too literal at times for my liking, considering the band's sound I'd expect something more poetic but it seems to be deliberate. Just as blunt as the feelings and atmosphere it's trying to portrait I guess

Having new fav tracks every time I listen to this. Closer To God is still the goat, but Believe The Hype is in my mind all day today. Jon's performance on that is something else, really conveys his emotions in that one
