It was very nice for me, as a big fan, to hear him get back to more of a rocking sound. Lots of beautiful lush moments on it as well.

that’s not a prerequisite for Cave’s best work imo, a portion of his best stuff is more high octane and punkier but subdued Cave peaked higher for me (The Good Son / Skeleton Tree)
either way this ain’t really it, at least in comparison. Fine for what it is I guess but too many forgettable moments considering what he’s capable of

I didn't intend to imply it was. But 80's Seeds is the highest peak for me. Let Love In, Henry's Dream, and Tender Prey. The ambient albums were amazing in their own right, but more mood specific and much less immediate to me because I have dumb hardcore kid brain. So it was nice to hear him with some drums and overdrive again, even if it isn't quite as artistically or emotionally meaty as other recent works. I enjoy this as much Ghosteen, if not a little more.

This might sneak top 100 of the decade come Jan 1st 2030… but I couldn't go any higher than that

I love when a random song like 'Joy' that I definitely like, maybe not love, comes on whilst stoned on shuffle and I just weep with the realization that Nick writes nearly nothing but crucial, blissful, thoughtful tunes
