"my guy, so many Leprous songs from their first four albums do this formula and yet you've given most of their records +4 ratings, why are you complaining about this now?"

@toondudw 10 My guy, not only am I not complaining, but it's an observation I've made of their music for probably a decade now! xD I can point out that they've been doing the same song structure for 15 years and still like all their albums, but i get if it sounded i was being ultra negative

Anyway, yeah I think I like this more than TPS and maybe Aphelion, though this album has also made me appreciate the energy on Aphelion more

I never noticed the song structure thing tbh, they hid it very well

Seriously, it's actually pretty fascinating. Every song in The Congregation does the same thing structure wise, even more impressive that they make it work consistently as well as they do

Oh, yea, I always thought The Congegation was quite samey and doing the same structures over and over while still working perfectly fine. But for some reason I didn't notice this with their other works

I mean it helps a lot if you change your intros around and add extra sections in between verse 2 and chorus 2 haha

Mastodon's last record was their best since Crack the Skye, the fuck

I liked many of the earlier leprous albums but this feels unlistenable. So obnoxious and nothing new.

Which kind of makes it a different structure, right? But I guess many artists fall into formulas at some point

Nah, it's the one before TPS and I only say that because I don't remember anything off it, which means nothing, because I didn't listen to it in years

100%

"muse has simp theory, which is easily worse than the worst mastodon or leprous album"
I never care about muse so I never remember them.

"imagine hating Mastodon's last record lmfao"
I'm still trying to finish it, I fall sleep.

Neither this nor Aphelion are as awesome as Pitfalls, BUT I really appreciate what they're doing. Aphelion has this spontaneous energy to it. This one has some weirdness in it, even though I would like even more weirdness tbh. Album is rock solid.

Me too, the vocals are so strong on this one, they drive the whole album. Find myself singing along often. Leprous has never been about strong riffs for me anyway. Love the production as well.
