This has just stuck. Each time I come back to it, it impresses me all over again. Top 5 of the year for sure.

I think this was a little bit of a victim of my lofty expectations. This album is great, but I had already unfairly penciled it in as my aoty and it probably won't be that high. Still a very strong addition to a sterling discography.

Saw them last night for the 3rd time. As expected the band themselves were amazing and the new material really shone.
Unfortunately the crowd was absolutely abysmal, no concept of gig etiquette or helping people when they go down or need medical assistance. This always seems to be worse in arena settings, never had a problem at shows in small venues (whether that's a hardcore crowd, doom metal, dream pop, whatever, genre doesn't seem to matter).

some very good songs, some cage the elephant filler material

fontaines releasing bug as a single proves my theory that they are the greatest singles band in the game right now but every non-single on the albums can (usually) get in the bin

yeah, I liked a few tracks on this but it was so forgettable as a whole

I still feel that this is their weakest album, but some of the songs are catchy as hell. Loving “Bug”, good choice for a single.

ah man where has this band been all my life! love this. modern spin on my favorite british genres. bit of gaze/dream pop, post-punk and a bit of britpop. kinda like a dreamy subdued oasis at parts, bug and motorcycle boy especially with those acoustics. favourite is absolutely incredible as well what a closer so much britpop in that. desire is another favorite, so simple and crushing gaze.
but man starburster. didn't expect that. monumental. such a fascinating song and mixture of influences, that flow is amazing. gonna be like a decade defining song for me prob haha. really gotta check out their other stuff. props to zak for having this on his list, caught my eye. need more stuff like this. didn't know this sound was still around!

Nice one mate, 60% of the UK sput mob will say otherwise but this band is refreshing, boundary expanding, have created a ‘scene’ on their own terms whereby they are critical darlings, have sold a fuck ton and generated a deserved buzz.
They’re the bollocks.

Agreed with all that, it's been a pleasure following them since Dogrel came out too and seeing how massive they've become.
