it can be a little overbearing at times but the lyrics I love, favourite lyrics of the year, the doomed nature of a lot of the characters, the criminal logic, the violence and depravity, it's a vicarious pleasure

I dont really agree on the feeling that they are taking themselves too seriously but i agree that the name actually held me back from checking them out initially. First i thought they were a grind/death metal band or something.
Dont find it overbearing either but i can see why some people who dont find this style appealing might have that notion. As Doof said it is a real vicarious pleasure

definitely not taking themselves too seriously. Now don’t get me wrong there’s some heavy subject matter, but the way it’s presented is tongue-in-cheek and the biting delivery is impeccable

A band called Crippling Alcoholism could only take things so seriously.
The album title is itself a bit of a joke.

Nah. There’s a lack of self awareness

In Mob Dad the vocalist sounds like Shaggy from ICP. Sorry I hope I didn't ruin anything for anyone. That is all

'Nah. There’s a lack of self awareness'
I don't hear how tbh
Fantastic lowlife lyrics on this and the delivery once you plug in is really really clever.
Best sputcore album since I joined the site!

Yes, well as much as I don't really get the comparison that's also a band with a 5 star album so you might be onto something.
Still, if you rate this over a 3 out of 5 your first impression is more positive than my one was ;)
I do think their debut is an absolute mess so everything you're saying I could apply to that one.

Climax of Otessa is wild man, those double kicks are perfect

Top ten song of the year for sure, and Liquid Jesus would probably land in my top five. Fucking wild one two punch.
I still think this record peaks early with those two tracks, and I do have a little bit of an issue with that 60 minute runtime. But the problem with that is that I don’t know what I would cut. Everything is good, there’s just too much of it.
Still, absolutely one of the best records of the year. I’m a complete dumbass for not checking out their debut. Gonna have to change that in the next few days.

One of the best records of the year yeah! Their debut is not half as good as this,Wild, but still pretty coool

Their debut is better as an album experience. It's just as unhinged, but with a different sonic palate and presentation. It leans a lot more on their noise rock influence
This has some killer select cuts but is a tougher front-to-back sell imo. Having said that, the strength of the better parts here is easily worth the price of admission and you don't have to revisit the same songs every time (I just never want to hear it in full tbh)

I don't disagree there. They're completely different experiences in a lot of ways.

I was going to bed last night and threw on headphones to hear Red Looks Good on Him and ended up listening to the rest of the album before taking them off and falling asleep. Couldn't put it away. I've probably listened to this album more than any others this year but everytime I put it on there's a different new favorite part

Currently on first listen. Was kind of mixed on this until Ottessa, which I really like. Hope the rest plays out well.
