so having enjoyed this, does one listen to it again +part 2 as an entire piece, or break it down into the more manageable segments of 1/2?
tempted to go with the latter, initially

This one slaps more often than not whereas 2 is a mixed bag, so I think separate listens may be the strat

I've been listening to the entire thing. Both pieces feel a bit unsubstantial by themselves.

Part 2 is a wild party bag, I think I prefer it to 1. 4.25 part 2 4 part 1. imho the Anthony Green's song his voice is produced not so well, or overproduced, or he really sang like s**t and they had to do post-production miracles. probably a mix of all things

Anthony Green just sucks at singing these days in general

Anthony Green song is the only real miss on part 2. The author & punisher one also just kind of exists

I usually dislike A&P so pretty much the boys made him good. I like the vibes
In the grand scheme of things, part 2 is more experimental imho, by itself that is maybe why part 1 which is more "classic" NV makes sense.

Ugh I hate how we have two different review pages for this full length... Annoying how on music streaming it is mentioned as one full length...
Also: Record didn't really hit me. I really like the track with Boyd, some cool instrumentals, but overall this album has not made me want to check again per se.

i can’t help but feel like the new one (I and II) is a letdown, but i think that’s more of a testament to how special Gallery is

It's an unfair comparison in all honesty, some magics can only be properly captured once.
Imo the first half of this is still quite faithful to From the Gallery even if it only matches that same spark a time or two.

yep agreed on it being unfair, hopefully I’ll be able to judge the new one solely on its own merit with more spins

to be fair, it's the band's fault for releasing it like this

Fun fact: Aska is a nice lil rework of a Nick solo track called Half Moon.

Damn I full on agree with Johnny. Color me surprised

I can think a record is great but it still didn't strike me as being special, right? And yeah, probably the band's fault but it's annoying anyhow haha

Someone a few pages back, said that they're continuing to have the last track of the album, bleed into the first track of the previous album. Can someone point it out? Because I am not hearing it... It's also 3am, hahaa.

it's less of a direct segue this time - they did however use the same voice sample that starts off Copper Wasp
Infinity Beach also did a similar thing by ending with the intro chords to the first song on Into the Vanishing Light iirc
