Dying Wish bore me to tears, and I should be in their target audience because I still love that style of metalcore.

I'm all over Dying Wish tbh. I wasn't 100% sold till I heard "Paved in Sorrow", but now I'm all over their stuff.

It’s hardly controversial on this site and honestly I kinda agree. But there are tons of bands I think suck but also enjoy.

Sucking and being unenjoyable are very different things, I agree. My gag reflex isn't great but I'm still happy to make the effort whenever I can.

An album can blow chunks but still be fun like a bad film. Unenjoyable albums/media that sucks so much or are so boring that it just becomes a slog that theres sinply nothing to even find enjoyable within them. Not even laughably bad or cringe worthy

i can't tell anymore if i'm just much of a nitpicky nerd as everyone else here but just for different shit, or if i'm too "low standards" for this site

Venin you arent "low standards" for this site we all have tastes and certain things that we are very picky about. Where as i may be extremely picky about Metalcore you could be the same for my love of Prog/post metal. That doesnt make either of our tastes it takes low standard or poor its just our thoughts on the matter

Ill fully admit now these days my taste is borderline snobbish and pretentious and i may come off as a bit of prat with my takes sometimes especially of core albums

Prog/post-metal has been sort of a goldmine for good shit for me so it might not be that, it could be something else tho - although i'd have to figure out what if it isn't just meat-and-potatoes DM (i.e: Cannibal Corpse type stuff) or low-fidelity norwegian BM with barely any production beyond making it sound as harsh and abrasive as possible lol

Like for example Hawks really doesnt like one of my all time fav bands and im not big on darkthrone (not that ive done a good look on them). Was just listing examples as well

Yeah I see what you mean, I knew you weren't assuming I disliked that stuff. Idk sometimes people come off wildly hyperbolic to me (i.e: "the cleans are baffling" instead of "i'm not high on this vocal tone") so i wonder if they're being needlessly nitpicky n then I remember I'm the same way with other music

tbf sometimes i feel like i am low standards for this site when we have literal staff members judging me and anyone who likes a certain band and telling us we shouldn't like them because they managed to infuriate said staff members so much that all sense of "subjective taste" got thrown out of the window
