Currently on the second song, and this already completely fucks. Not sure if it'll end up being better than Sun Eater, but it's fantastic so far regardless

Any time a band gets the deathcore label I usually ignore them because most deathcore I’ve heard is trash. But I’ve heard so much praise for bands like these guys and The Red Chord that I decided to finally check em out.

Plus they got the progressive label. I usually fucking hate any kind of progressive deathcore/metalcore. It’s almost always just as flaccid as progressive rock, only they have the illusion of heaviness because they tune to fuckin drop Z and use ten string guitars… so it’s even more irritating

that part like 1:35ish in Into the Crystalline Crypts where it slows down then speeds up but it's done in just a short burst is so sick

Kinda crazy seeing a dumb deathcore band whose debut is a 2.9 eventually crank this out like 15+ years later

Definitely need to listen again but felt more of a distant appreciation than anything deeper... in 3.5 land which isn't bad but decidedly off the hype train.

It's hard to believe this is the same band that made Entombment of a Machine

its eternally better than Sun Eater because it gets progressively better towards the end unlike Sun Eater

tbf it's been a very different line-up since like 2012, barely the same band at all.

Davy has one of the most unique sounding growls/shrieks in metal. As in if I just heard him doing vocals on a random song I'm pretty sure I'd be able to pick him out vs a ton of other metal vocalists that just kinda blur together
