Meshuggah is all about rythm and power. Once you've seen them live you understand. Best band I've seen live by far, and I've seen hundreds.
Tesseract is also a great live band and should not be missed.

I can't believe how good this is
I'm like their biggest stan here but wtf this is on it's way to beating altered state for me.
Dan has now topped himself three albums in a row. He's a fucking monster on this.

>" while they spent 90% of their energy making some fkn VR game."
Oh, I assure you they spent very little time on that. I'm a hobbyist dev and I can just see they used the built-in dead-simple VR compatibility with Unreal, and UE5 is almost to the point of Unity3d re: looking painfully ~of the engine~. It looks super generic and like very few unique assets were created for the game. It's a walking simulator in a world that took very little effort to produce lol.

So this sounded better and better last night. I was also drinking and listening while playing VR games online so my attention span wasn't fully there. Going in for round 3 tonight and giving it my full attention. I think I prefer the latter half so far.

Usually when an album is this overhyped and I'm not into it i at least get the hype.
after 3 listens i truly just can't, sounds like most of this shit could've been written by an AI you taught about djent/prog metal.
Genuinely there is no specific part after 3 full listens that I can remember back to and be like hell yeah that was sick, aside from a couple nice Dan moments.

Is this hyped? I mean, Dan sounds great, but he hardly gives memorable melodies and the band doesn't either, so if this counts as hyped, I as well don't get it.
It really is Tesseract doing Tesseract, just with a bit more beef behind the riffz, but they're hardly more interesting

Tender reminds me a lot of the main theme from interstellar, with vocals.

"It really is Tesseract doing Tesseract, just with a bit more beef behind the riffz, but they're hardly more interesting'
Correct but if you look at the score avg and most of these comments it's AOTY best thing to ever happen to progressive metal which exactly what I'm not seeing/getting.

i like this a lot but i am a little surprised by h o w much this is getting hyped up to a degree. dont think its the type of album to change minds about them really but i jammed it this morning and still dug it a lot. kinda disagree about some of the complaints w dans vocal lines. def above avg for them hes got some cool runs here
