Swans hagiography was popularised by millennials, but yes lol zoomers were never going to overturn that one

Is there a way to see track ratings on that site? Like it doesn't show up all the time. TBK's track ratings don't show up for me, but I see them for this. I don't get it.

I think it's a subscription feature for all albums but only publicly visible for recent releases?

Gotcha. Yeah that's what it looks like. RYM and Sput are usually pretty close in ratings, and so it's surprising the difference in opinion on this.

yep, majority of sput voters are Deftones-breathing Counterparts-sharting riff bros who drop in for five token metal ratings and one poorly worded comment per year

and given that the rest of us never agree on anything, this deadlocks ratings somewhat

cultivated sputnik users = socially adjusted members of rym old guard >>> old school rym shut-ins > rym zoomers > idiot sputnik users who don't even know how to search the rym database properly lmfao

I think even if the album grows on me which undoubtedly it will, I think it will still remain a bitter disappointment. I was hoping for more, not necessarily more of the same (trilogy) - but just more of the ‘weight’ that swans bring to their music.

Just listened to it once. I like it. I do not get the negative comments in here at all. If I like it at first listen, I am bound to love it after several ones.

Same. This is actually the quickest I've ever taken to a Swans record.

I lost respect for the RYM user base when I saw a review for an unwound album stating it was “the most philosophical record Justin Trosper ever wrote”. And then you read the rest of it and it said one of the songs was about “wanting to do stuff you liked instead of stuff you need to do” as an example.

i mean compare that to the lowest bar of musical journalism found here and it definitely looks like a brain moment

Been sleeping on the new stuff for a couple of releases. I mostly listen to their older, uglier sounding stuff lately. I feel more interested in checking out this than Leaving Meaning. What prior album would you guys say it's most like?
