Dream Theater has its fair share of detractors (perhaps more than its fair share), many of whom complain of rLaBrie's vocal work killing the music for them. I have always been a huge LaBrie fan, and I would like to use rScenes from a Memory as the album to support my case. LaBrie shows off impressive range and dynamics over rthe course of this winding, nearly inarguable epic. But it isn't just James who clicks on this album; every bit of rthe music works like a puzzle, perhaps at first seeming challenging, confusing. However, eventually the pieces rall fall into place to create an absolutely stunning portrait. Scenes from a Memory is a classic in every sense of rthe word.
