Would prob either start with An Evil Heat and go on to Narcotic Story -> Thin Black Duke before hitting the rawness of their earlier work but tbh it's all great

Serenade / Evil Heat is their obvious peak for me, but The Narcotic Story is possibly the best introduction for newcomers

Trout Mask Replica sounds absolutely nothing like this record. it is a righteous screwball romp and ticks all the boxes as such although it massively overstays its welcome. its vocals are a chaotic deconstruction of speech and language and if you're approaching them with anything like the levels of projected earnestness as this then, uh, pomo harder and better thank u
