Members Only is the most happy metal song I'd actually crowd kill to

Having a hard time understanding the rating drop for this album.
Whole thing is genuinely fun and I still revisit it

Agreed - trumps False Idol but sits just below Matriarch for me.
Think I finally get Death Runner too - thought it was always overshadowed by Lost Creator but it makes a great closing pair. The riff at the 2 minute mark is too spicy.

To me this just feels so sterile and bland compared to stuff like id and CMC. What's with these early 00s metalcore bands progressing as players, but regressing as songwriters? It feels like an AI wrote this tbh

That was always my biggest beef with False Idol. Marc said in an interview around release time that he wrote all the songs in the span of two weeks, and it honestly sounds exactly like that.
This at the very least is fun imo

This one feels like a nice bounceback for them. I couldn't get much into False Idols and Matriarch because they felt too.....scattershot and safe? Idk, I need to give them more listens but they've never been able to hold my attention like this one thankfully has. Even still, there are sections that have me scratching my head. I'm not against clean vocals in this scene or anything, but I just really like them here lol
I'm kinda with Rowhaus though, a lot of bands that were clowned on back in the day have become absurdly good musicians while taking a step back in the songwriting department. I'd rather have something clumsy and full of personality like Common Man's Collapse than something pristine and joyless.

yeah this still cant really hold a candle to the three albums pre matriarch. def has more personality than theyve had in a while but its still like, not *fullly* there yet. really hope they push for an album like death runner next but its not gonna happen lol

Totally. This feels like what they should've done after Eclipse and it's kinda frustrating that it took them a decade to essentially do a worse version of what they instantly did so well in their early years lol

Definitely not lol.
I really grew to love Matriarch after learning (and attempting) to play its songs on guitar. Everything pre Matriarch may as well be a different band.
Matriarch < CMC < Eclipse < Mother < ID < FI < ATSA
