I feel odd for this but I for the life of me cannot get into or even really enjoy Return to the Garden. The concept is great but all the parts and riffs just fall flat for me. I feel similarly about Endless Hallway. Also for a band with such strong closers on every album "Lord Slug" is a bit of a misfire imo. The rest of the tracks are all firing on all cylinders though.

Christmas came early this year.

I love HIL and "It Hates You" is a classic, with "Suck Out the Poison" right behind it. That said, what this album is missing are the brooding, slower burners ala "stranger danger", "decisions decisions decisions", "china white iii" and even "uncanny valley". This is just an all-out brutal assault, which is still good. But the diversity is lacking.
