Beach house is a bop and a half and t/t is really nice.

Pretty good album, probably my second favourite after Emotion

“Auto-tune slaps m/“

[2]
T-Pain sounds like Robot Jones covered in glitter, flying through Rainbow Road

Not everyone can embrace the fun of auto-tune enough to pull it off, but when they do…!

This is like right between a 4 and a 4.5 for me. The things preventing me from slapping down a confident 4.5 are "I have a lakehouse in Canada, and I'm probably gonna harvest your organs" and "Go find youself or whatever" being cringe phrases, and knowing that I'm going to wonder what Shooting Star would sound like without auto-tune for the rest of my life.

It's funny Get Low because I absolutely love the 'organs parts' lyrics in Beach House. Maybe it's because english is not my first language and I'm not feeling the cringe like you but I really, really like that she's not taking herself seriously and I find those lyrics hilarious. I miss that pop-star side from the 80s/90s and Carly is really doing that part well.

I respect that point-of-view, Gravity.

You know, I really don't know what's so bad about going home with another man and meeting his beautiful wife (hey wait was Carly referencing Alanis Morisette)

Or was she referencing Joey Gladstone? 🤔

No Thinking Over The Weekend makes me want to bump this to a 4.5. Top tier CRJ song, it's beautiful.

What do you think contributes to that replayability, vis-a-vis the other songs on the album, vis-a-vis nominally similar but less replayable albums?

An obvious element is complexity vs. simplicity but hmmmm

There's something hauntingly beautiful about some of the songs on here. I'm already feeling that nostalgic chill when they creep up on shuffle. It's far from her most consistent album, but musically, this speaks to me the most.

The second half of this from Western Wind on is better than Emotion I think but the first half isn’t good enough to make it a better album

the best song on this album is Talking To Yourself, probably her best song since Now That I Found You. Beach House is bad so is Joshua Tree, dont know what shes doing there but i respect the direction shes going. I cant stop listening to Talking To Yourself! Such a great song, top 5 Carly

there's a lot of people who rated this higher than a 3, so clearly they like Carly.
