Just listened to this for the first time since 2022 and I’m going to have to bump my rating down to a 3. This really feels like a contractual obligation despite the odd genuine banger. I still prefer this to AHIG but I can see that changing in the future.

Oh shit for real? I need to take a look at recent setlists, going to see them in September. I definitely need to give this a relisten too, I remember really liking it but it had no staying power, think I only bumped it four times maybe. We are Not Your Kind is still pretty fucking great though.

Iowa is front to back a massive step up from the s/t. It has groove and hooks out the fucking ass. You're also referencing sounds on The End, So Far which has been a part of the band's sound since fucking 1997.

I mean Iowa going more balls to the wall and being closer to death metal than any nu-metal album I can think of is why I rate it so highly/why people generally gravitate towards it
I get if it's not your thing, but the intensity/insanity/pure energy of it is why I think it's fucking lightyears past this low-mid tier album
And WANYK is one of my favorites by them too, but this just sounds like a B-sides version of that - also WANYK was trying to do something very different than Iowa imo
