I have a really hard time trying to separate the synths from the guitars.... I've tried all forms of equalization and I've had no positive results...

The album is redundant af lol
As most of melocore bands its so multi dimensional it ends being one dimensional af...I honnestly don t know why these bands insist on making the long albums, when they should learn somth out from Archspire f.e.

"That just means you have to give it more listens and become more familiar with what is going on. Throw on some headphones or something. It requires some initial effort for sure." Will follow that tip fs. Tks.

Might grow on me more but for the moment only the three Pain Remains parts stood out to me as genuinely amazing. Rest kinda blended together.

"I don't know if you can. There are literally melodies that I thought were totally keyboard/symphonic until I saw the guitar player playing along to them on a video or live show."
Ok, it's definitely gonna be impossible then... Why would they do that? LMAO

Guilty pleasure of the year for me now, this is better than any deathcore album has any right to be because… it’s not really deathcore, kind of like The Discovery by Born Of Osiris but even further away from the chugalugs
The only thing here that feels consistently deathcore are the drums and deathcore drummers tend to be the best thing about their bands so it’s no bad thing
I like this more than the new Counterparts 🤣

Finally getting to this. In a weird way the sheer bombast and speed here reminds me of DT's "The Gallery" rather than, well, symphonic metal. There are some really nice melodic passages and some parts are very memorable despite everything being turned up to 11. So that's a nice surprise.
The vocalist is unfortunately very distracting and detracts from the experience pour moi. He's fine when he's doing standard harsh vocals, but it's when he goes to the extreme highs and lows that I tap out.

I love the extreme lows man, but I’ve always liked that disgusting guttural ever since jamming Annotations Of An Autopsy back in the day
His mid range is excellent and has a bit of Randy Blythe about it
I like his high shrieks but a couple of times he does a weird high that I’m not a fan of, especially when he does it just before a breakdown at the end of one of the early tracks
Overall though a monster performance imo

This totally shits on that Counterparts album and it's not even close imo. That said, I am not completely in love with all of this but think it's a pretty well-rounded album. The symphonic elements are for sure pretty cheesy. One hell of an opener and closer though

Def not cheese. It's a great album but it's the definition of staying in your comfort zone as a band for me. Same formula as immortal essentially. Unless I'm at the gym I can really just pick any 4 songs on here, enjoy tf outta them, but then get bored.

"I don't feel like the symphonic parts are cheesy. They're definitely epic as hell, but to me I don't get the same boarderline-cringy feeling I get while occasionally listening to Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Delain, etc."
Don't you dare put Nightwish in the same category as those other bands!!
But really, I'm torn between a 4 and a 4.5 on this. I wish I could give this a 4.2 because that's probably where it I would place it.

"and eventually everyone was going to get them... I think."
Did anyone read this? You mean...not anymore?

So this is real good, obviously Pain Remains is the big highlight.

I’m so glad you reviewed this Willie! I am a heavy Sputnik reader but don’t comment often. Every time I see you pop up as a reviewer or commenter I feel like your opinions perfectly sum up mine.
I, too, am not a heavy deathcore listener. I have given Lorna Shore a try a few times in the past and never really got into it. But ever since Will Ramos joined, I have loved everything they have released, and this full album is no exception.
Sun Eater, Into the Earth and Pain Remains trilogy are the highlights for me. Once I get to Wrath I start feeling a little tired with it, but then Pain Remains brings me back and is an epic closer.

Yeah it suffers from the usual deathcore fatigue. Honestly I think you'd get a lot less of "this all sounds the same" comments if they cut this by 10-15 minutes. Don't sleep on soulless existence though.
