"Endgame kicks this one straight in the dick"
You can say that about basically every modern Megadeth album lol. Seems like Dave captured lightning in a bottle for Endgame and then never recaptured it again

"Wait, this was your first Megadeth album in general?"
Yep. I saw them live a little while back when they toured with In Flames, Lamb of God, and Trivium, but I never liked what I'd heard from them. Figured I'd finally give them a shot now that they have a new one hot off the press.

30 years since my first Megadeth. Ouch. First run of this wasn’t successful but not writing it off yet

I saw megadeth when they came to Argentina a few years ago and it was...disappointing to say the least. Not because they're not great musicians, but because I couldn't recognise a SINGLE FUCKING SONG. They were forced to change the key of every song, especially when they played the whole countdown to extinction and I found Dave's vocals so...disconcerting. It was like "Is this actually Dave Mustaine? The one who I felt in loved when I listened to reckoning day and five magics?" I couldn't even recognise his voice anymore.

the super tight instrumental delivery makes mission to mars hilarious in a way that's hard to describe

I gave up with my enthusiasm after probably...united abominations I guess? I can't listen to a band if they're not going to offer me the same quality as they do in a studio recording. I can understand with cases like I don't know Geddy Lee that he can't reach the high notes because of the age but c'mon...it's like Dave's vocals were replaced with the ones of Phil Anselmo.

At least James can sing some of the older songs, even if he has to "sacrifice" his early gnarling but, at least he can sing on key to most of the songs.

“I can't listen to a band if they're not going to offer me the same quality as they do in a studio recording”. Why?
|
| |
Because they are selling me something that I'm not going to see live. I insist, Metallica sounds the same on an album than live and at times they sound better live (even the Bob Rock's overproduced albums). But With Megadeth I think they're selling me an unrealistic version of the band.

Dave’s a legend but this misses. The only songs I’m ok with are the singles. And Celebutante which is a nice 90’s throwback. Bit surprised bc last outing was excellent

I actually enjoyed the album, it had some forgettable downers, but other than that, the good stuff on there is the best they've done in the last 20 years or so. This is also the best Mustaine has sounded since Youthanasia.

i also will say i really enjoy the vocals on here and don't get the complaints, especially from fans.

Like 90% of the entire album, perhaps?

I get it. Some singers grow old and their voices change because that's how aging works but of all the big 4 of thrash metal I think Mustaine's voice is the one that aged the worst.
